Action Alert! Tell the County Council to Amend or Hold Bill 72-24 and Protect our Green Spaces from Sprawl

The County Council is racing to approve Bill 72-24 on Monday night and they need to hear from you.

We applaud the intent of Bill 72-24: to create more affordable housing for our residents. Yet, portions of the bill make it far easier for developers to fragment our last remaining green spaces and pave over our watersheds without delivering more affordable housing.

The bill increases density (buildable units) for lots that have floodplains, wetlands, and steep slopes and it doubles the amount of impervious surfaces that can be built in residential districts. These are sweeping changes to our zoning laws that are disconnected from affordable housing and will have consequences for our lands and our rivers.

Use the clickable buttons below to thank the County Council for working to address affordable housing but please ask them to amend of hold Bill 72-24 because we cannot incentivize sprawl and allow our last remaining green spaces to be paved over.
