Land use policy IS water policy. That's why we need your voice next Wednesday, September 25 at Southern High School at the Planning Advisory Board meeting. Speak up in support of our lands, our rivers, and the great work that's been done by the County and your fellow citizens on the Stakeholder Advisory Committee to keep South County rural. Speak out in opposition to bulldozing forests and open space for sprawl. Here are a few things we'll be speaking about:Save the Forest at Glebe Heights! The County told the owner that the Forest at Glebe Heights could not be disturbed without a waiver to the law, so the owner has requested to increase the property's zoning so even more units could be built. Help us tell the Planning Advisory Board that you agree with Arundel Rivers- It's time to protect our last remaining forests by lowering the zoning at Glebe Heights! You can REGISTER HERE to testify in-person on the Glebe Heights application at the zoning meeting on September 25. Use application number CZ-R9-MYO-0001 when signing up to testify. No Highway Commercial in Galesville! The owner of the Old Town Firehouse in Galesville requested rezoning to C4 (Highway Commercial), potentially greatly increasing stormwater runoff near the overburdened ditches on Main Street. Tell the Planning Advisory Board that you agree with Arundel Rivers-NO highway commercial on Main Street in Galesville. You can REGISTER HERE to testify in-person on the Galesville Highway Commercial application at the zoning meeting on September 25. Use application number CZ-R9-GSV-0005 when signing up to testify. No High Density at Mayo Ridge! The owner of Mayo Ridge Marina near Mayo Elementary School requested rezoning a portion of the marina's lots to R22 - the highest density residential zoning available across the county. High density zoning means high densities of impervious surfaces that could send polluting stormwater into the South River. Tell the Planning Advisory Board that you agree with Arundel Rivers-NO high density concrete and asphalt in Mayo Ridge! You can REGISTER HERE to testify in-person on the Mayo Ridge application at the zoning meeting on September 25. Use application number CZ-R9-MYO-0006B when signing up to testify.
