About the SAV Watchers Program
Submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) or underwater grass provides a wealth of benefits to our waterways! You can help us gain a better understanding of where and what species of SAV might be growing around the South, West, and Rhode Rivers an their tributaries.

SAV Watchers is a program developed by the Chesapeake Bay Program to provide volunteer scientists with an engaging and educational experience with SAV while also generating useful data for Bay scientists. Volunteers for the SAV Watchers program monitor our waterways for SAV beds and report their observations to the South, West, and Rhode Riverkeeper.

We will hold an SAV Watchers training on Saturday, March 22nd at Quiet Waters Park from
9:30am to 11:30am. Join us to learn more about underwater grasses in the Chesapeake and see how you can get involved in our restoration program!
