State of Our Rivers

South, West, and Rhode River Report Cards

Since 2007, the Federation has compiled scorecards tracking river health for the South River. After combining with West Rhode Riverkeeper Inc. in 2019, we now are tracking the health of all three rivers.

The Federation’s State of Our Rivers report data on key indicators of river health, such as: water clarity, dissolved oxygen, underwater grasses, and the abundance of aquatic life. Much of the data in the Scorecard has been collected by our Riverkeeper, but the report also utilizes data from a variety of respected sources such as the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the Virginia Institute of Marine Sciences.

Thank you to all of our incredible volunteers who have come out in the rain and heat to help us collect this data!
