Broad Creek Valley West Stream Restoration

This tributary of Broad Creek was identified as a degrading stream; it is actively eroding and delivering pollution into Broad Creek and the South River with each rainfall. Without action, erosion along the stream banks will continue to increase and the head cuts (an abrupt vertical drop along an actively eroding stream) will travel farther upstream.

With support from Anne Arundel County’s Watershed Protection and Restoration Program, Arundel Rivers has received a grant from the Chesapeake Bay Trust to design and permit an environmental restoration project to restore this degraded, eroding stream back to health. This project will ultimately reduce sediment and erosion and protect the South River.
