Living Shorelines Restoration

Broadview Estates Living Shoreline

This shoreline was funded by Broadview Estates community with help from a Chesapeake Bay Trust grant in 2017. It is located at their community dock and picnic area. Students, participating in a program led by the National Aquarium, grew shoreline grasses in their classroom and came out and planted their grasses with the Federation at the site. This shoreline is located 200 yards below our large stream restoration project in the community of Preserve at Broad Creek. Broad Creek has been assessed as the second most impaired creek on the South River and has been a priority area of restoration for Arundel Rivers. In the future, we plan to also restore the eroding wetland between the living shoreline and our stream restoration project.
